Can I Lose Money? Will I Profit?

This analysis helps you understand how often investors historically experienced a loss across different mutual fund categories and investment horizons. By analysing every historical investment entry date, it estimates how likely investors were to make a profit or incur a loss over time.

What You'll Learn

Compare historical loss probability and profit chance across multiple mutual fund categories and holding periods. Discover how investment horizon influenced the likelihood of making a profit and how longer holding periods historically reduced the chance of losing money.

Methodology

Every historical investment entry date is evaluated using Net Asset Value (NAV) data. For each category and holding period, the analysis calculates the percentage of investments that finished with a gain or a loss, providing a historical estimate of loss probability and profit chance.

What Is Measured

EquityVoyage evaluates loss probability, profit chance, number of historical observations and benchmark comparison. Together these measures help investors understand how frequently losses historically occurred and how investment horizon influenced the probability of achieving positive outcomes.

Data Source

Historical Net Asset Value (NAV) data is sourced from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and compared against the corresponding Nifty Total Return Index (TRI) benchmark.
